    Dudes,

I'm going to build an htpc over the next two months and I'm starting with the case. I would love any help with product names, prices, etc. Also.....has anybody put together a bitchin' system that emits no/low noise and costs under $1200.00?

    Thanks for the help dudes,

    Chester

I just got a rack mount server case- but it seems like the kids want their pc to look more like stereo equip. In my case, i use rack mount gear (amps, processing, etc)- so a rack mount pc fits in better...

Getting back to the other question it's possible to have a nice HTPC for under $1200. Here's what I have, it's about a year old so you should get it easily for your pricepoint..

    D-vine 4
    p2.4b @ 2.7
    1gb Crucial pc2700
Asus p4pe w/onboard LAN and sound
    GF4 4200 @ 4400
    M-Audio Revolution 7.1 sound card
    Panasonic 10x DVD
    Lite-On 48/24/48 cd-rw
    Flyvideo 2000 capture card
Zalman flower CPU HS and graphic card heatpipe
    (2) 92mm fans attached to fan speed controllers
    Fortron 300w PSU w/120mm fan

I'd recommend going Athlon now since it's the best bang per buck. Zalman cooling for a very quiet system.
