Looking to go all HDMI (1 Viewer)

I currently have a Pioneer 1015TX receiver with six JBL E30 surrounds, a JBL EC35 center speaker, and a powered SVS sub. Right now the receiver works alright, but I can't turn it up too loud or it will shut itself off, I need more power I'm sure to run these 7 speakers, but I don't know how to figure out how much I need.

I'd like to replace this receiver with one that I can use all HDMI cables on. I need recommendations as to what will fit my needs and then see how much I need to start saving

It needs to have an HDMI-in for my satellite, my playstation 3, and (when I get it) my 360. It only needs one HDMI-out to go to my television, but I am a huge audiophile so I need it to be able to take in the full 7.1 audio from my blu-rays and output it in perfect quality.

Any suggestions, references, ideas, help, or thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks!

Getting a new receiver is fine, but odds are if you set it up the same as the one you have now it will still shut off when you turn it up. I suspect you have the speakers set to "Large", or possibly just to too low a crossover point. Switch ALL speakers to small, which is what they should be set to, since you have a good sub, and the power problem will most likely disappear.

Good to know, I'll definately try that out and see (since I do know that they're probably all set to Large). I still plan on upgrading though so I need some recommendations!

Something else to check, in the meantime, is both ends of your speaker connections. If one tiny strand of your speaker wire is touching something it shouldn't, that can cause your receiver to shut down at higher volumes. It's a safety feature (Protect mode), so you don't fry something.

If you do decide on a new receiver, my recommendation is the Yamaha RX-V863.
3 HDMI inputs, 1 HDMI output. Plus it will upconvert all of your non-HDMI inputs and output them through the HDMI cable to the tv (the only cable you will run from the receiver to the tv will be the HDMI cable).
It supports all the HD audio formats and has 7.2 channel output.

Should be everything you are looking for.

7.2 mmmm, a new receiver AND an excuse to buy a second sub from SVS? Although i'm already knocking pictures off the wall with just a single one...

I will definately check into the Yamaha RX-V863, it sounds like just about exactly what I need and honestly I was just looking for someone to say, "Okay well I use X receiver and it has everything you're looking for and it's been working great for me" since aside from that all I can do is just look at the technical specs and hope that I don't miss anything vital in all those pages and pages of stuff.

Are there any important benchmarks for a receiver that I should keep in mind while looking into new ones? For example, when I bought my TV I said to myself, "Okay, you need it to have progressive scan and you need it to have 1080 resolution."

Aside from just saying, "Okay I need it to be able to play all sound formats and support a 7.1 setup" are there any other important features or certifications that I should pay close attention to?
