Large Screen Monitors? (1 Viewer)

My 10 year old Hitachi projection TV is slowly (but expensively) dying.

I'm using DBS and DVD sources, thru an AV Receiver. So I don't need tuner or audio circuitry in the TV. Are there such animals as large screen (40-inch +) "monitor" units, where I can save $$$ by excluding the unnecessary electronics?

Thanks,

Don

Im sure there are, but I cant think of any right now.

Why are you spending "expensive" money on a 10 year old set? Go out and get yourself one of the new Panasonics. Ive heard rumors of $1499 for a 53" wide screen that is HD ready. The 47" version can be had for less than that!!

On a similar note, I do agree with you that the tuners, and audio circuitry / speakers are a waste of money when included (for some people). I guess it comes down to being cheaper to mass produce a set with all the options then to make 2 smaller production runs with different options.

Greetings

Getting them to make stripped units will end up costing you much more money for the same TV.
