• Brand New 2K Master
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Samm Deighan
• Optional English Subtitles
B&W 77 Minutes 1.37:1 Not Rated
From director John Brahm, the visionary filmmaker behind The Undying Monster, The Lodger, Hangover Square and Singapore, comes a journey into the dark and dangerous corners of Rio, starring screen greats Basil Rathbone (If I Were King) and Victor McLaglen (Murder at the Vanities). Crooked Parisian financier Paul Reynard (Rathbone) is arrested for bank fraud and sentenced to a penal colony off the coast of South America. His wife Irene (Sigrid Gurie, Algiers) and faithful servant Dirk (McLaglen) travel to Rio de Janeiro to arrange for Paul’s escape. But once they’ve landed in the Brazilian capital, Irene falls in love with an American engineer (Robert Cummings, The Last Train from Madrid). After his escape, Paul realizes that he’s lost his wife forever to a better man, and seeks revenge. From a story by Jean Negulesco (Road House), the noir-drenched adventure Rio also stars Leo Carrillo (Four Frightened People).

KINO is becoming the KING OF CLASSICS! Is this the last pairing of Lake and Ladd?Wow! Another Ladd and Lake movie coming to blu. Can't wait. I love the 30/40s films that KL are putting out.
Yes unless you count Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid but they don't have any scenes together in that oneKINO is becoming the KING OF CLASSICS! Is this the last pairing of Lake and Ladd?
Excellent release..........thank you.Saigon (1948) was another one of the titles previously not available due to legal issues.
Ditto on those two for commentary possibilities. Please, no David Del Valle. One of the best Noirs ever made, it's such a great film with wonderful NYC locations, terrific writing, direction and acting.
Please, get Imogen Sara Smith or Alan K. Rode for the audio commentary. This movie deserves a commentary from one of the best Noir experts.
Looking forward to the Blu-ray. Enjoyed the movie very much when it was shown on Noir Alley, and I would love a good copy of it.Sunday's Facebook Announcement:
