I just watched "Starman" on TV and loved it. Then I went online to find information about its DVD release and according to amazon.com, a DVD of it was just released on March 1, but with no special features. So now I'm wondering...why would a DVD of such an old movie be released this year with no special features? Is the information that I found incorrect?

Amazon is just listing its latest price reduction date. The disc has been out since 1998. A more feature-filled edition (with Carpenter & Bridges commentary, featurette, and music video) is available in Europe.

Is it one of the SONY titles that the Widescreen version was dropped?

No, Columbia/Tri-Star, with widescreen format intact.

It's a good commentary, Kevin. Bridges is a stand-up-guy, a true pro and very funny. He and Carpenter tell some wonderful stories.

Columbia would be doing fans of the film a real favour by doing a SE like the R2.
