Patrick mentioned the one that bothers me (its versus it's).

I've never corrected anyone, but there are a large number of people that use it's when referring to possession.

Just yesterday someone wrote that I was being rediculous.

No wonder the SAT's had to be scaled down.

Oh and just to jab the O.P. a bit ... if you are referring to the Internet that hosts the Web, it is with a capital I.

That is a perfectly normal and useful contraction. What't the problem. "Most literate circles"? No, some circles, which aren't so much literate as snobbish, pretentious and way too impressed with themselves. :)

Joe

How funny is it when the second phrase of that statement (which is supposed to sound normal) also sounds odd.

I've forgotten to do it???? Shouldn't it be "I'd" as in "I had"?

Which part, the odd use of "I'm" that they quoted or the fact that I find it interesting?:D

Neither.

The part where you use "it's" inappropriately shortly after I posted about this all too common mistake.

Don't get me wrong. My writing skills are far from what I wish they were ... but I'm trying.
