I'm considering a Sony 51" (KP51WS510) rear projection set that I've priced at around $1800. At that size and price, are there other models/manufacturers I should consider? Thanks in advance.

Not a bad choice, but definitely consider the Toshiba 51H83. You should be able to get it for somewhat less than $1800, because I think you should at least be able to haggle a 57H83 for that price.

Also consider the Hitachi 51F500 and Panasonic PT-53WX53
