i have been browsing through people's home theaters. with tvs as big as 50 inch, looks like the towers are too short! is there any way to elevate the tower speakers?

Why would you need to elevate the speakers? The tweeters should be roughly ear level when seated.

Lovan Jazz is an option. Jazz 1800 (18 inches) - Jazz 600 (6 inches)

Also you can have Sound Anchors to custom make the Three Post Monitor Stands to fit your particular height requirements. But they are expensive though.

The mains should be within 1-2 feet of level with the center. They do not need to be aligned perfectly. The answer is more likely not to raise your mains, though it may help with imaging (especially if you have them just sitting directly on the floor) but to angle the center down towards you. I had my older large mains on stands and there was a noticable improvement in sound.
