Well at least they are saying it is "Done" now.

That was possibly the single greatest reason I bought a DVD player in the first place, Five Friggin" Years Ago!

Dammit, FOX!

I almost shake thinking about it.

I can't wait to hear Danny Boy.

My LD looks like crap.

If I remember correctly from the last chat, your wait is almost over. :)
Scott: you STILL haven't see The Third Man? The horror! :D

Brian! Only seen 4 of mine? For shame!
You need to be more specific about my titles.
And see more of them. Sheesh!
Specifics you want, specifics you get.
I've seen:
Miller's Crossing
Gone With the Wind
The Man in the Moon
Leaving Las Vegas
It's no secret that I desperately love Miller's Crossing. It's easily in my top ten, and my favorite Coen by far. I echo all sentiments about it above.
I haven't seen Gone With the Wind in awhile and that's why I didn't put it down as a dislike. I mean to give her another chance one day, but as it stands, I just don't care much for the movie.
And actually, I realized I erred in my statement. I believe I said I own one counting VHS (which would be Miller) but I in fact also own The Man in the Moon. I found it used one day and picked it up based on your love of the film. I thought it was good, but it was no Lord of the Rings.:)
As for the other six, I have two awaiting in my Netflix. Along with Fitzcarraldo which I can't believe you didn't pick.

Which two would that be? Also, after the first two movies, I decided to take a specific theme in my choices and Fitzcarraldo didn't fit.
You, know, someone sent me an email recently that has made it impossible for me to get Leelee Sobieski out of my mind. Thanks for the mental image.

Yeah, well, I'm not even sure why I like The Man in the Moon sooooo much. It hits something with me. I mean, I have watched it at least 20 times since the DVD was released nearly two years ago. I do love Freddie Francis' work on it, and Reese captivates me. Still, why I like it as much as I do? I'm not sure. Maybe my buddy Patrick would have a theory.

Interesting that the only person's list that I've seen in whole is Scott's. I always knew we shared much of the same taste, but it must be even closer than I thought. Congrats on some great lists, everyone. My favorites were Scott's, Brian's, Jan's, Elizibeth's.

Tournament!
A few ground rules:
1. No hurt feelings. Everyone loves their own movies quite a lot, so let's all agree ahead of time that we all have fantastic lists. Obviously 'personal taste' will come into play with the voting, so don't take a defeat as an insult. Consider yourself more unique if that makes you feel better. :)
2. Explain your votes. Offer a few choice titles that swayed your decision. Divulge something untoward about yourself. Have fun.
3. Be patient with me. I wanted to do this because I didn't want Draft #1 to end without more activity, but I'm a bit swamped work-wise. Expect updates to be consistently intermittent.

My votes:
Rain's picks that I love/strongly admire:
Schindler's List
E.T.
2001
Justin's picks that I love/strongly admire:
Requiem for a Dream
Seven
The Blair Witch Project
My vote process:
I was all set to vote for Justin because he clearly digs horror movies as much as I do, but his addition of Mulholland Dr. casts a small negative on his side.
To be fair, there are several of Rain's picks that I've not seen so I may be a bit skewed towards Justin's.
Oddly enough, I vote for Rain, because his list is solid and full of classics. Were it loaded with obscure 'movie snob' titles (as it clearly could have been) my vote probably would have gone to J. Also, Rain's is a bit more 'eclectic' and that's always a good thing.
Plus you gotta respect the Dumbo pick. Dance with the movies that raised ya, I always say.

Justin has a nice list, but it lacks diversity. Since my tastes run eclectic, I gotta go with Rain.
Looks like I'll be pitted against Scott. :D
