A bit off-topic, but just got back from watching Scarface in the Dome, very impressive presentation. The restored soundtrack sounded great, very clean and natural.

The picture also looked a bit better too.

Ron:

I know it's a huge expense to go back to L.A. just to see MAD MAD WORLD, but once those curtains at the Dome started opening ... and opening ... and opening on HOW THE WEST WAS WON, the fact that I lived in New Jersey didn't seem to matter anymore. I knew I had to come back in October. Just to push me over the edge, the 10/16 show is the benefit performance with Jonathan Winters, Edie Adams, Jerry Lewis, Sid Caesar, Peter Falk, Don Knotts, Mickey Rooney, etc. in attendance. I've got a seat in the second row (!)

Bill,

Only side seats available. Not sure
if that's worth coming out for.

I'll put some serious thought to this.

Ron,

Center seats are the best but not as critical as 3 projector Cinerama. Get seats in the loge. The image will not be as sharp or bright as HTWWW. The list of stars mentioned are those invited and are not guaranteed to show. But it's the film that counts.

The film was just awesome! Had I simply just
watched it on DVD, I don't think I would have
appreciated it as much. It just goes to show
that the movie theater experience is still alive
and well and that theaters like Cinerama
are an essential venue for film lovers. It takes
you back to a time where filmgoing was an EVENT
rather than just something to do.

I am just amazed at how much care went into the
film presentation at that theater. The film
presentation began with a short speech about
the film's production, restoration and what
to expect in its presentation. During most of
the film, a technician was walking around
the entire auditorium making sure sound and
picture levels were up to par. Never have I
been in a movie theater where so much respect
has been given to the film's presentation.
Not to toot my own horn (too much :) ), but you can get this experience (on a slightly smaller scale) every Saturday at 11:30am right in your backyard, Ron.
