All right you horror and zombie fans, don't let me down! I'm hoping to find the name of an Italian-made zombie movie (not "Zombie") that came out in the late 70's/early 80's. Here's what I have:
  • Film was dubbed in English from the original Italian
    Was about a SWAT-like team in a jungle-type setting
The lead SWAT guy kind of’ looked like Vic Morrow (but wasn’t)
At one point, a SWAT member dressed up in a ballerina outfit (tutu) and was then eaten by zombies
HELP!

Sounds like Bruno Mattei's 1981 film Hell of the Living Dead, available on DVD from Anchor Bay.

Plot Summary for Virus (1981)
[dubbed into English]

"After a chemical leak at the Hope Centre in Papua New Guinea (an organisation devoted to feeding underdeveloped countries) turns its staff into flesh-eating zombies, a four-man commando squad led by Mike London are sent to investigate. They run into a TV news crew led by celebrity reporter Lea, who are after the same story, but when they discover that the entire country has been overrun by zombies, what are the chances of them getting the message across? Unlike most zombie films, this actually tries to make a serious point - that if we don't feed the Third World, they'll come and feed on us!"
"Also Known As:
Cannibal Virus (1981)
Hell of the Living Dead (1981)
Inferno dei morti-viventi (1981)
Night of the Zombies (1983) (USA)
Zombie Creeping Flesh (1981)
Zombie Inferno (1981)
Zombie of the Savanna (1981)Also Known As:
Cannibal Virus (1981)
Hell of the Living Dead (1981)
Inferno dei morti-viventi (1981)
Night of the Zombies (1983) (USA)
Zombie Creeping Flesh (1981)
Zombie Inferno (1981)
Zombie of the Savanna (1981)"
A good strategy for finding these kinds of things is to enter keywords in the IMDB search engine slot under "plot". I got 82 "zombies" references.

You guys know your zombie films.
It's more of a lame rip-off of Romero's Dawn of the Dead and an unintentional comedy than a straight horror flick.

Thanks for the title information!
It's nice to know that there are other flesh-eating-zombie-philes out there!

There's a lot of zombie fans here Berk. Besides myself and the others in this thread, there is also the person I consider THE EXPERT...Julie_K. She's the queen of zombie movies.
