While I applaud the passion and labor that has gone into this fan favorite bringing it to 4k, I fail to understand the laser connection with the RCA SV CED format.

It was a record player, which (as I recall) akin to laserdiscs, had problems with rodent droppings and other detritus as part of the manufacturing process.

I used to purchase half a dozen sets of CAV discs, mixing and matching to attain a single functional set - and then return the others as defective.

Finding both sides of a disc without problems was a chore.

That was only in the very early days of the format on the DiscoVision label. Later on most movies were in CLV and only “deluxe” editions had the whole movie in CAV.

CEDs were made more like records and that format had its inherent problems.
