This is a basic article on THX Optimizer. It's pretty basic. Not as good as Avia and nowhere as good as ISF, but it's a start.

indeed, these patterns are available on many THX dvds. They are useful for temporary alignment, however I do strongly recommend the more thorough pattern sets on a dedicated test disc such as Avia or DVE. Further, the precision of the THX patterns has been known to vary in the past, which defeats the purpose of calibrating if your reference patterns are incorrect. Still, it is better than eyballing for a temporary solution.
