Season 5 is now available for pre-order from Amazon at a excellent $14.99 price! I figure it'll be some time before it's this low again so get it now! I did! :)

So far I've managed to purchase S1 for $4 and seasons 2-4 at $15 each. Total so far of $64 for S1-S5. I'm very pleased with those prices for such a great program. If I can get S6 for the same low price I'll be thrilled. Much lower prices and much better packaging for a series I never thought would see a release. That it's essentially 100% intact makes it that much better!

The season 5 box looks fatter (like season sets used to look before they used standardized DVD packaging). Am I wrong? I hope that it's standard.

Based solely on the image at Amazon it looks to me to be a poorly done artists' rendition. The angles are not right for a photo of the package.

My season 5 set came in today. It's a standard width keep case, like the other seasons. As I speculated earlier, the Amazon image is a poorly done artist's rendering.

I never was a fan of Wonder Years, yet I'm the one who started the topic! I'm happy for those of y'all who have their holy grail. I know various people wanted it, so I couldn't pass up the chance to start the topic when I saw this.

I find, though, that stuff that I used to not like, I might like now. What season would be the best to start with if I wanted to get a feel for the show? 1st season? Did it hit its stride in another season? I'd kinda like to give it a chance.

I think it hit the ground running and mostly got stronger as it went on. That it uses *accurate* music of the times for the soundtrack just adds to the program's strength and is the main reason many thought it'd never see release as it's *full* of classic rock tracks.

My recollections of watching he first run episodes is that it began to be less good in those last couple of seasons but that could also be due to other factors at the time. In spite of that I purchased S5 and will pick up S6 when it comes out. Overall it's a great program.

Even though I watched the show regularly during its original run I wasn't sure how well it would hold up for me. Because of that I started with season 1 because it's short and less expensive. I found I *still* greatly enjoyed the program. My grandson was at the house when I started the season and instantly fell in love with it. He's the age Kevin was in that first season and I was able to directly tell him how accurate the history in the show is and fill in details of what was going on in the country during the years in which the series is set (I was a few years older than Kevin in those years). He liked the music as well as the stories. He was disappointed when we finished the season (a "marathon" viewing of the 6 episodes) and I told him I didn't have season 2. Of course that's been rectified but we've not made time to revisit the series. I know he's still interested because he asked about it a week or so back.

So... I'd say start with season 1 as it's rather short and inexpensive. It's a very good barometer of the program and sets the tone for what's to follow. If you like season 1 you'll like season 2, etc.

This appears to be the only season of The Wonder Years where music is intact.
