H card vs. HU card--what's the difference? (1 Viewer)

Just a newbie question here, and the subject says it all:
What exactly is the difference between an H card and an HU card? Is there any difference in the way a new card of either type can be used for access to satellite TV? Thanks for any help!

The H card was the original DirecTV access card. It's encryption scheme has been hacked and therefore DirecTV will no longer activate a receiver with an H card. The HU card is the new standard and is the card included with DirecTV receivers.

Actually, the F card was the original.
