Apologies if this has been discussed.

I don't know if it's a chain-wide thing, but the FYE in my local mall (Queensbury, NY) is offering rebates on many new releases. School of Rock is $19.99 with a $10 rebate. Schindler's List is $22.99 also with a $10 rebate, and there are several others.

Is that a presale on School of Rock since it's not out til next week? I assume that is $9.95 *after* rebate right?

Correct on both counts.

Yep, good ol' FYE has adopted the rebate model as a way to compete with the big boys while essentially offering a non-sale. You pay full price and hope you remember to mail away for that refund, plus that you fill out all the paperwork properly so they don't just bin the thing.

2-3 months later, if you're lucky, you might get your few dollars back.

I'll just shop at the Wal-Mart next door, thank you very much!
