It's a reasonable release.. apart from the mild specks and edge-enhancement. *excellent* Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track though. I'd be first in line for a Special Edition of this title.

At least it's uncut. (unlike the UK R2 release - missing butterfly knife twirling.)

Actually I believe the R-rated theatrical cut of the movie had to be edited before it was released to avoid an NC-17. There have been alot of rumors about a more intense director's cut that John Woo wanted to put out on Laser Disc and now on DVD.

However I don't know what Paramont's policy is on unrated films, so who know if this will ever be released. But it would sure be great if someone like Criterion could release a SE of this title.

Sadly, I don't think John Woo will ever get one of his Directors Cuts released. So many out there on bootleg but no company feels the need to release them.
