Question I am thinking about a new recording device and am not sure what the best way to go would be....I dont timeshift network programing..What I am looking for is something to record the occasional movie off direct tv..
I currently have a 13 year old quasar hifi vcr for this but
its old and recording off Dtv is kinda a pita...quality recording is #1 issue but then again its not like Dtv is the highest quality to begin with soooo?????

IMHO for DirecTV you can't beat a combo DirecTiVo unit -- the quality is exactly the same as the satellite feed, you can record/watch two channels simultaneously (although no PIP) and there's an abundance of recording options.
