I'm looking to get a new 5 disc changer and I want it to be a SACD player that can also play mp3s. I just wanted to know if Sony is going to be releasing new players to go along with the new ES reveivers. Any info would be appreciated!

Brandon,

Sorry, but that is incorrect. The SCD-C333ES was released in late 2000 and was discontinued in April 2001. Some dealers had units available into the fall of 2001. As an early model, the 'C333ES does not play multi-channel SACDs. The 'C333ES was replaced by the 'C555ES multi-channel SACD changer, which was released in April 2001.

I would be very surprised if getplugged.com actually has the 'C333ES in stock. As I said above, it was discontinued a long time ago, and dealers ran out of stock last fall.

James,

I still have not heard anything about new SACD/CD players from Sony, ES or otherwise. Sony recently released the DVP-NS755V progressive-scan DVD/SACD player for $300, which replaced the 'NS500V interlaced model. The 'NS755V is not an ES model. In addition, there is word that Sony will replace the DVP-S9000ES DVD/SACD player with an 'NS999ES model that will play multi-channel SACDs. I also saw an Australian review online recently for an 'NS905V DVD/SACD player that will replace the 'NS900V. I don't know if the 'NS905V will be available in the US. Furthermore, I have heard nothing about the 'NS900V being discontinued in the US. Finally, Sony announced the release of two ES integrated DVD/SACD player-A/V receivers. One will have a single-disc player built in, while the other will sport a five-disc carousel changer. Unfortunately, I have heard nothing about non-DVD SACD players coming from Sony.

Thanks for the link Brandon! That's what I was looking for, although it's disapointing that it won't play mp3s. It's not a huge deal, I just wanted to be able to play mp3s at parties and stuff.

Keith,

Sorry about the confusion. I assumed Ovation's site was up to date. Thanks for clearing it up!
