Hey peeps, I just bought a Toslink/fiber optic cable yesterday and thought I could hook it up from my Philips DVD player to the JVC mx-gt700 shelf system. However, after I tried, no sound was produced through the JVC speakers.
I was wondering, do I need a receiver to use the toslink?
Is there anyway I could make it work with just a dvd player and the shelf sound-system?
Thanks in advance!

There is no Optical Input on that system, the optical is an Output.

This will not work over the Optical connection, it does have L/R analog line in, so you can hook a DVD player up to it via that connection.

Thank you so much John, so does that mean I need a sound system that has an optical input?
