Hi

I have the SONY STR-DB790 (STRDA1000ES) receiver and I am wondering whether the picture quality will be better if I connect the S-video signal from my DVD player directly to the TV or via the Receiver. Do you generally loose some quality, if you use the receiver for switching (especially this one) or is it better to go direct. What do you people use?

S-video isn't too much bandwidth so there will be slight video degradation but personally, I just find it WAY more convenient to have all my inputs plugged into the receiver so that when I switch modes on the receiver, I'm already set for the tv.

But if you're hardcore about the video - like a lot of people here are about their sound, straight through is always the best, although just slightly more effort.
