Hi,

After totally being infected with the Danny Kaye virus.

I want to know which one of Hans Christian Anderson to buy.

The HBO or the MGM version ?

Any thoughts ?

Greetings from Holland,

Frank

Both are the same. HBO first came out with the DVD and then rights were acquired by MGM. (One of my favorite musicals... great songs). :)

There is something wrong with the sound on the MGM version. I can't remember exactly what it is. Like the sound on the Chase audio track comes out from only one speaker.

I'm too lazy to do a search but from what I remember, MGM won't even acknowledge the problem let alone fix it.

I think you will find that the HBO version has been discontinued.

All of the Samuel Goldwyn HBO titles now belong to MGM.

While the DVD has a slightly sharper image, the remastered Laserdisc has better sound, including a priceless orchestra only track, with all the vocals removed.

Anyone heard anything about Danny Kaye titles being re-issued or released for the first time on DVD. I would love to own Wonder Man and Secret Life of Walter Mitty and also Up In Arms.

I don't know about the current availability, but The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Wonder Man, The Court Jester and Hans Christian Andersen have all been released on dvd, but Up in Arms never has been (at least in region 1). :frowning:
