My dads not a total HT enthusiast, so he pay like $45 for a new SPL meter, and im too poor to get one, so is there any software program that'll let me measure spl? Freeware or shareware doesnt really matter...

You would still need some sort of mike to pick up the signals in the room to be able to measure them in addition to the software. Why not just borrow your Dad's SPL meter?

Check out hotfiles.com. Do a search for "sound level" or "sound meter" and you will find some freeware and demo apps. One I tried, by SoundForge, DXVUMeter, worked ok with my laptop and a microphone, but I found that the mike I had was too directionally sensitive, and I ended up buying a RadioShack analog SPL ($30).
