When I graduated with a BSc I had about $500 in debt (I paid my costs with the summer internship salary) and starting salary of $2000 per month. Year was 1996. Now with salary in the six figures annual I doubt my son is going to be collecting much debt either but I'll still make him earn his own beer money and housing. College isn't about a degree, it's about drinking alcohol and chasing girls...at least that's what I thought.
The $60k starting salary nowadays isn't too shabby, not too many jobs without a degree that get there within 4 years.
