Who knew that Australia, had deserts and prairies akin to the great United States. And rumor has it (a fun film) that they're larger than the State of Delaware put together.
Shot by David Eggby, whose work you know, even if his name doesn't ring a bell, did a gorgeous job of capturing the turf of Australia, and that work is beautifully rendered on Shout Factory's new 4k UHD - a part of the Shout Select brand, which means that there are more than enough quality extras to make the release stand out.
I was going to tell you a bit about Mr. Eggby - He was DP on the original Mad Max, Camera Operator on The Man from Snowy River, Thermal Camera Operator on Predator, as well as DP on films such as Daylight and Pitch Black.
Part of the fun of seeing Quigley is that it's an Australian western. It's also a fun film. Not a great film, but absolutely worth your time.
Tom Selleck stars, with support from Laura San Giocomo and Alan Rickman. Look for a young Ben Mendelsohn in a small role.
A gorgeous release from Shout, derived from a new 4k scan of the OCN. And it looks it. The 2.0 stereo track sounds just fine.
Image – 10 (HDR)
Audio – 10 (DTS-HD MA 2.0 Stereo)
Pass / Fail – Pass
Plays nicely with projectors - Yes
Makes use of and works well in 4k - 8
Upgrade from Blu-ray - Yes
Worth your attention - 7.5
Slipcover rating - 2
