Calibrating sound and video (1 Viewer)

I would like to calibrate the sound from my receiver so that it is optimized for my living room.

Also,

I would like to calibrate the color from my TV so it is also optimized. Is there an optimal setting for color/brightness/contrast?

Is there an easy way to do this?

There are a few calibration DVD's available. There is no other way for you to do it. You can't just get settings from other users as they will vary input to input and TV set to TV set. Even people with the exact same TV model will have different settings.
