Interesting. I'm curious as to what those new cabinets will look like. Sounds sharp. Glad to hear about the speed surf function. May 65H80 is slow.
Does anyone think that "Auto Convergence" is a plus? I've never been impressed with it on other TVs. I'm skeptical that a computer chip could beat a 64 pt convergence done by sight.
Also, would the "Ambient Light Sensor" even be usable for a properly calibrated TV?
Peace,
DM

This is what the new cabinets look like.... 50h81
I think they look very nice, I'm glad I waited for the new models. If only they would become available...
A photo credit must be paid to NBT electronics.

Dave, auto-convergence is there on top of everything else. The 64-point service and 9-point user systems are still in place. Toshiba says their auto system is the best in the business. We shall see.
The ambient light sensor is easily defeatable in the TVs user menus.
Joel, thanks for the credit, but I don't really deserve it! That photo is actually from the dealers section on Toshiba's web site.

So how do we get into the dealer section on Toshiba's website? I'd like a quality picture of the 50HX81.

Does anyone know if the new Toshiba's will display non-anamorphic DVD's in their correct geometry when using a progressive scan DVD player?
Thanks,
Jason
I'm sure they will. All the other Toshiba's have no problem resizing progressive. I really recommend the RP91 though, its scaling is far better then the blow up tv's do.
