I'm thinking of picking up the SACD of Motown by Michael McDonald. I've listened to some samples of the album and it sounds great. I know it was just released in SACD hybrid(with a 5.1 track) on 10/14 and I was just wondering if anyone could comment on the sonics of the surround mix.

It sounds really good in stereo. I haven't tried the M/C yet.[IMG]

I have it. While it sounds decent with a very 1980's style mix, Michael has done better work(of Motown material) in the past. On some songs, he sounds great and on others, not so great. After listening to it, it almost begs for a Michael McDonald/Stevie Wonder duo album or Michael fronting the next Fourplay album. He did a very nice and slow reading of the Temptations "Hey Girl" on his "Blink of an Eye" album. I'm surprised that it did not show up on this album.
