Is the current DVD version of 1992's A League Of Their Own anamorphic?

The preponderance of evidence that I can gather would indicate that it is an anamorphic DVD transfer.

DVD Profiler data, plus Amazon and DVD Planet show that it is anamorphic. But DVD Empire, which is usually pretty reliable about such technical matters, says it is not.

There's no hint of this info on the packaging.

Was just curious.

"What do you recommend" (to enhance the appearance of second baseman Marla Hooch)? .......

"Lots of night games."

This is a great film. And deserving of an SE, I'm sure you all will concur.

Vote for an SE of this fine feature flick here --------> :):):):):):)

Yes it is 2.35:1 Anamorphic, (I can stretch it to fill my 16x9 Pioneer...I can't stretch a non-anamorphic 2.35:1 that far).

Thank you, John, for the data.

I still need 99 more people to confirm this for "official A.L.O.T.O. verification purposes". (Congress has made this mandatory since 1948.)

Thanks, Andrew. my man. :)

Score:
Anam. = 2.
Non-A. = 0.

We'll need to straighten out DVD Empire I guess. (Would tarring-&-feathering their web masters be *too* severe, ya think?) :)

I just popped mine in and I'll add another vote to the "Yes it's Anamorphic" tally.

p.s. I just checked out DVD Empire and they also say there's a DD5.1 English track... Mine only has Dolby (EDITED correction) Surround...I don't remember any other version being released, so I guess they're wrong again.

I was under the impression Penny Marshall was working
of extras for a special edition of this film.

Even worse than DVD Empire's info error, is the fact that these damn studios can't bother to have accurate information on the packaging!!!

This film really would be great with multiple commentaries on a DVD (don't ya think)?

Or even a group commentary by, say, Tom H., Geena, Rosie, and Lori Petty.

Think Madonna would ever be talked into sitting through a commentary session? Might be enlightening indeed. :)
