6.1 and 7.1 speaker placement (1 Viewer)

I was reading though the Outlaw 950 pre amps owners manual. I see that they recomend a 7.1 setup but most of the modes are either for 5.1 or 6.1 setups. My question is where do you set up the speakers if you only have 6 speakers? ie is it possible to have a single rear centre with the outlaw 950?

I don't own the 950 but based on what I have read of other 7.1 receivers, you should be able to hook the single center up to the left surround back connection and the receiver should know it is a 6.1 setup. Again, this is what other recievers do...I think.
As for placement, it would apear you just place it in the centre behind you.
I hope the 950 works the same way as other receivers and I apologize if I'm totally wrong on my guess of how it is hooked up.
