That response time is actually pretty good. They say the lower the number the better right?

You add the rise (r) plus the fall (f) to get the total response number. 25 is actually quite good. The monitor is quite good - I have a Planar made on a similar platform.

Sceptre Technologies X9S-Naga

Bargain 19-inch LCD's notable performance and scads of features are marred by a short warranty.

Current prices: $579 to $699

WHAT'S HOT: One of the least-expensive 19-inch LCDs we've looked at lately, Sceptre's $699 X9S-Naga, proved that low-cost doesn't mean poor performance. In fact, the X9S-Naga delivered results on a par with more-expensive models. Text and icons were sharp and highly readable, and images displayed rich colors that didn't look oversaturated. The unit was a tough contender even when it came to movies and games: Moving images didn't stutter.

This bargain LCD doesn't skimp on features, either--it includes a USB 1.1 hub with two ports for peripherals. The X9S-Naga also comes with speakers that sound loud and clear--at least compared to the integrated speakers on other monitors. The aesthetically satisfying, albeit thick, silver bezel will likely please most viewers' eyes.

WHAT'S NOT: Despite including many extra features with this display, Sceptre fails to deliver with its warranty. While most vendors offer three-year coverage for both the display and the backlight, Sceptre offers just one year, which does not bode well for a display that you'll likely use for several years.

WHAT ELSE: A black-bezeled model is also available.

UPSHOT: This capable bargain LCD really caught our attention with its mix of performance, low price, and features. But its short warranty gave us pause.
