I have a Denon 3802 receiver (which is very heavy), and I am planning to buy a Sony 400 CD changer. I am wondering if I could put the reciever on top of the CD player since the receiver has ventilation holes at the top. Will this do any harm? Your input is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Alexander
Hi,
I heard from a friend that it's possible to hook up two CD changers so that on acts as a buffer for another. While one CD is playing, the other is ready to be played, and there is therefore no delay when you switch from one CD to another. Does anyone know if this can be done, and if so...
I am looking to buy cables for my Paradigm Monitor 9 speakers. I want to buy biwire Monster cables, please take a look at http://www.jandr.com/JRProductPage.p...100&showcase=t and let me know what you think.
Alexander
Thanks for your input guys.
Rob,
Do you think it's worth the little bit extra (I am guessing shipping is cheaper than tax) to pay at the local store, over 6th Avenue, because I don't have to pay shipping costs, etc. if it breaks?
Alexander
Thanks to your help, I decided to go with the Denon 3802 for my receiver. I went online, and found the cheapest reputable seller, who sold it for $793 shipped. I went to my local B&M store, and handed them the printout. I stood my ground, and it really came down to what the warranty/their...
Howard,
Thanks for the information. Sorry, but I don't know where I would look up an efficiency rating. Would it be somewhere on Paradigm's site, or on a third party site...?
Alexander
Also, I'd like to add that I'm new to all this, and that I remember reading that wattage in every receiver is different. So that Outlaw may be as powerful as the Denon from what I remember reading (although I could be wrong).
Howard,
Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at the site, and I noticed that it only does 65 watt for 6 channels, and 70 for 5. Do you think that will be enough for my speakers? I have been looking at 90-100 watt per channel receivers because I wanted to power my speakers for the best sound...
That's my problem- I can't listen to most of the receivers. Only one store around here sells Paradigms, and they only have two Onkyo receivers and some Sony receivers. I'm not interested in the Onkyos they have. Should I go to a different store that sells other receivers (such as the 2802) and...
I am planning to buy the Paradigm Monitor 9's soon, and I was wondering what receiver you guys would recommend. I will be using the system for 70% music and 30% home theater. All suggestions appreciated.
Well, I looked around and I found the Denon 2802 for $545 and the 3802 for $730 at CrazyEddie's. I called them and I was told that they buy all their stuff from authorized dealers, so the warranty would be honored by Denon. I am inclined to buy a Denon over an Onkyo since it seems like Denon is...
Breck,
Thanks for the advice. At first I will be only listening to music since I will only have the mains. Some time down the road I may get full surround sound, so I do want a receiver that is very good for music, and good for home theater. The 3802 retails at $1,200, but you say I can find...
Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I have not listened to those Paradigms simply because there are no retailers around here that carry them. I'll certainly go look into those receivers, however (I've been considering the 2802). Thanks again.
I am planning to buy the Paradigm Monitor 9's at the end of this month, and I am looking for a receiver. The dealer I am buying from is offering this setup to me for $1,537.14 including tax. He is charging me $700 for the receiver and $730 for the Paradigm Monitor 9 mains. How does this sound...
Thanks for all your advice, it has been extremely helpful. I will definitely be demoing several speaker systems before purchasing. Unfortunately, I don't think the Divas are sold in my area, so I don't think that is a possibility. However, I also recently found the B&W speakers (like someone...
I listened to the Paradigm Monitor series today, and I liked it a lot. Like the PSB (which I also liked), they aer $800 for the pair of mains. Any more comments on these two setups? For those of you who own Paradigm, which receiver would you recommend?
I am very new to speaker/stereo equipment and would like your opinions. I recently looked at the Klipsch RF-3II's and PSB Infinity series speakers. I listen mainly to alternative/rock music, and the PSB speakers sounded much better than the Klipsch for that type of music. I also watched part of...
