I was looking at the Digitheatre DTS system online, and they normally sell for 599.00 or so at this site. Now, it has 299.00 listed as the price. This seems odd. Are they being discontinued, or is this the sale of the century?
I am a college student who wants to save some money on a HT by incorporating it into my computer. How does this setup sound:
P4 1.7 mHz
256 MB Ram
Radeon 7500 All-in-Wonder Video card
Videologic Digitheatre DTS or Klipsch Promedia 5.1
SB Live! 5.1 or ??
My questions are:
1) Is...
I am still planning my system, and was wondering if there is any reason why a pair of mini monitors instead of CC370's would not work if paired with some Monitor 7's up front. I simply want the mini's because they would be much cheaper than a pair of CC370's, and the room the HT would be in is...
damn. How did I overlook my front set!! They are Focal Utopia (also called JM Labs in the home audio) 165W Utopias. 6.5" drivers with titanium tweets. So anyway, now that I have finished the story . . .
As for the guy who has the Illusions: those are some of my favorite peices. I...
Just curious what people on this board have for sound in their cars. I have actually spent the last few years heavily involved in SQ type car systems. You wouldn't believe how hard it can be to find truly audiophile grade components for a car . . . anyway, here is my system:
Head Unit: Sony...
chu- the clarifier claims that it prepares the surface of the CD so that the CD player can track the information better. Basically it claims to reduce the error rate in the bitstream. So technically, it does not add anything to the signal, or put anything in the recording that is not already...
in reviews of this unit, I have noticed several things that have been brought up as faults in this receiver: no component video switching, lack of 96-192 khz 24 bit DAC and no DTS-ES. My question is what are the real world connotations of this? Is it really anything that problematic? How does...
well, if you have foam surrounds, there is not much you can do to protect them, other than keep them out of direct sunlight. The good news is that you can order foam surround kits to fix busted surrounds. I did this on my dad's 1975 model year Advents a few years ago, and they are still...
Outlaw 1050 receiver
Paradigm Monitor 7's up front
Paradigm CC370 center channel
Paradigm mini-monitors for rears

I really like the Paradigm Monitor series, so I feel that that part of my system is for the most part set, unless I find something that blows me away in the same...
well, I think that Bedini's device makes sense if you think of it in terms of a capacitor/electrical charge. Don't think of it in terms of electromagnetic charge. Just like rubbing wool on a rubber rod will charge the rubber rod with static electricity, the Bedini I think works the same way...
the Bedini Clarifier (that gadget that prepares a CD by removing electrical charge in order to provide a cleaner playback) is made where I currently live (Coeur d' Alene, ID). Out of curiosity, I went out and was able to use this on a few of my CD's. Now one thing to bear in mind is that I am...
I have been in my local shop listening to Paradigm's Monitor series (I have listened to the 11's and the 5's) and so far these are my "reference" speakers in that they are the highest price wise I am able to go. My question, how would a 5.1 system of Monitor series components compare to the...
