Reid, I have the 30”, 16:9 model of this line of the smaller Samsung HDTVs. I think that my picture is quite good—at the price point. Panasonic made a 30”, 16:9 set that I thought had a slightly better picture, but it also cost more.

At $1,000 I’d say that this is good value. But don’t forget that you will need to spend another 50% or so on an ATSC tuner in order to get HD.
