Give me all the advice you got. I am going to have fun and I am going knowing that I will spend money not win any.

Your own statement is the only advice you need but few have the required discipline.

I like playing the slots at a Casino from time to time....but the cigarette smoke is so heavy in the few that I go to that after a few minutes my eyes start tearing up. That is the only problem I have with them. The most I have ever won was $300. Half of which I put right back into the machines like a dummy.
For me, it's my lungs. I'll be coughing for days if I stay any longer than an hour, but that varies from casino to casino. One of the cleanest casinos I've been in recently was the Atlantis in Reno, still smelled of cigarette smoke, but nowhere near as bad as the local El Capitan here in town or the Nugget in Sparks (where even the non-smoking rooms reek because the hotel shares its air ventilation system with he casino).

Where are you playing? State of the art Casinos such as those in Vegas have sophisticated ventilation systems that all but eliminate this phenomenon.

The last time I was in a casino was on a cruise ship a couple of years ago. There was a non-smoking section, but we walked through the smoking section to check on someone else on the cruise with us. It was awful. Cigarette smoke really bothers me, so any casino with any remnants of smoke (no matter how good the ventilation) would be a no go for me. I've never been to the casinos in downtown Detroit, but I understand they allow smoking there, and it can be bad. The casinos across the river in Windsor, Ontario are non-smoking, though -- at least, that's what I understand, as I've never been to one of those, either.

Caesar’s Windsor is completely non-smoking as are the ones in the state of Ohio.

My best deterrent to gambling is a total lack of luck. My wife gambles, and I either stay in the hotel, or sleep in the car. I always say that I should take the money I am going to gamble, open the door to the casino, and give it to the first person I see. Why waste all that time?

Northern Michigan spots like Little River, and Kewadin near Mackinaw Bridge (This is the worst one by far for second hand smoke).

I have been to Soaring Eagle once with some friends, and had a whole lot of fun. I should go back.
My friend left the slot machine he was playing after about a half hour.
Sweet little old lady gets on it when he leaves, not 5 minutes later she wins $8K. He was sick about it, but hugged her anyway.

WOW! I think that story should warrant a Good Morning America appearance.

I've driven by all those places, Bryan, but have never been in any. They all seem to do a fine business, though, as the parking lots usually have quite a few cars. I'd rather spend my entertainment dollars at one of the fine golf courses in northern Michigan -- there are a lot of them.

Who are we to criticize, but we always laugh at the commercials for casinos showing women in evening wear accepting diamonds from men in tuxedos.
I reality casinos are prone to be filled with groups of seniors in baseball or trucker hats pushing walkers or dragging oxygen tanks or groups of carnival workers on a bus tour to the casino via Walmart.

Pretty much spot on. You'd be lucky to see one truly attractive woman at most non-Vegas casinos. At least at ours it's mainly meth heads, seniors, and random samples of middle America.

Hit another $800+ "Major" progressive jackpot today. It was the same machine I won the Grand jackpot on in August and another Major jackpot on in May. Video:

That's three $800+ wins and one $5,786 win since May 1st. $8,200+ in 6 months, not bad. I absolutely have NOT put anywhere close to that much back in. Uncle Sam is gonna love me even more come April! :)

And, yes Mike, I was careful to not sit more than 20 minutes or so before standing up and stretching my legs for a bit. :)
