No, you're not stuck with it. Several music and book stores buy used DVDs that people don't want. You can sell them on eBay or Amazon as well.

My meaning, which I thought was clear, was that a store is not going to take back opened DVD merchandise because of something like poor video/audio quality. There are, as you pointed out, other avenues to get rid of the product. But you're not going to come close to getting the price you paid for it back. So it turns out to be a bad situation all around.
