Would love to see this thread stick to "The Announcements/The Films" and have the rest segregated to its own "Warner Archive/MOD Complaints" thread. No disrespect intended but after a year and a half they've gotten...old.

Meanwhile, what's on tap for Tuesday for those of us completists/collectors who are supportive of the program?

Besides PRETTY MAIDS ALL IN A ROW what else is going to take my money Tuesday. The fall is getting very interesting with titles so far. I am going to use that SCIFI25 but not until I have several titles.

Members rightfully complained about posts being made in this thread about the merits of the Warner Archive program - not about the DVDs and the films.

If you're not sure whether or not your intended post belongs here, please read the first post of this thread (by Ron Epstein) once again.

I have removed several recent posts. Those removed posts may be moved somewhere else - I simply don't know yet where exactly. The topic (about the durability of DVD-R) is a very old one.

Thanks for keeping this thread clean!

PRETTY MAIDS is due 10/12 I think. The fifth is a mystery; the WA usually tweets something the preceding Thu or Fri, but so far nothing.

(Their tweeter is quite funny. When I suggested they get a green slime to autograph copies of that movie, the tweeter said they would rub green slime on the packaging instead. )

Watched "Between Two Worlds" last night . Always liked this movie . The print looked and sounded good to me . Not perfect but inline with most unrestored 40s films . No complaints .

Sorry to be such a nag, but I once more feel compelled to politely ask the buyers of these new releases to please post which ones have the original theatrical trailers included as an extra. This is something I have interest in when deciding whether to upgrade my TCM copies or not. Thank you!

None of my recent WA arrivals (CLEOPATRA JONES AND THE CASINO OF GOLD, THEY CAME TO ROB LAS VEGAS, STRANGER ON THE THIRD FLOOR, THE UNDERWORLD STORY, -30-, or THE POWER) have trailers.

But two from Sony's MOD, A REFLECTION OF FEAR and FRAGMENT OF FEAR, have trailers.

Between Two Worlds had what looked like an original 2 min 15 sec trailer .

I have a question about the new WAC DVDs of Prisoner of Zenda (1922) and The Magician. On both of these discs, whenever anything moves horizontally in the frame, there is a very definite video stutter about twice a second. It sort of looks like a freeze frame and is constant throughout the discs. Prisoner of Zenda is worse than The Magician. I have viewed both discs on a variety of players and HDTVs, so I doubt if the issue is the playback equipment. Anyone else seeing this problem? Thanks.

I noticed this also happens on the Beau Brummell disc.
Warner was utterly unresponsive to my several emails.

To me it sounds like the discs were telecined to an interlaced format, but have now been de-interlaced without removing the pulldown.

Thanks for the trailer updates! Keep 'em coming if you can remember to post whenever you do or don't see one included.

Anyone know if the MICKEY ONE trailer is on the Sony MOD DVD?

Got some more Warner Archive titles today. OPERATION: DAYBREAK is the only one with a trailer. TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY, BETRAYED (44), ATLANTIS: THE LOST CONTINENT, and THE GANGSTER are trailer-less.

Just received the Bette Davis A STOLEN LIFE today. One thing, it is a big upgrade from the TCM one I put on DVDr a couple of years ago. It looks fantastic. Have only skipped through, but the old transfer had a bad splice in a scene, and that is gone. It looks like a new transfer to me, but maybe it was done for a planned Davis set, so WB didn't up the price. Trailer included too. Very pleased with this.

I just watched my first Archive film--Never Too Late. It really looked terrific. The film is in great shape for 1965.

Wonderful comedic performances from Paul Ford, Maureen O'Sullivan, Connie Stevens, Jim Hutton, Lloyd Nolan and Jane Wyatt. Quite a "slice of American life" as the film really paints a quaint portrait of life in Small Town, USA.

There's this one scene, however, where O'Sullivan is running down her local Main Street and all the writing on the store windows is backward. My wife thought maybe it was intentional because she walked down the street first rather stunned at a piece of news she had just been given but then as she changed her mind about it's impact on her life she turned and ran back down the street in the opposite direction (when all the writing appears backwards). She thought maybe it was as if the filmmakers were trying to make it plain that she was reversing her decision and they were showing it metaphorically. One thing for sure, it was very obvious--there was a lot of writing on those storefronts.

And the trailer is included.

Another coupon that apparently works is SAVINGS. It gives $20 off an order of $100 or more.
