I'll be getting them both. Overhyped or not overhyped isn't even an issue for me...the new movie was far-and-away better than many other DVDs lining my shelf...and will be a joy to own and watch in my HT.

Buying both. The Pal version is a classic. Speilberg's was a fun ride, apart from Miss Fannings constant screaming for 30 minutes

Anyway, it seems unfair to call it a remake since it's source material is actually a BOOK and not Pal's film.
