I stopped by Walmart for a few items.
I got a glimpse of the custom walmart shrek tv spot, and Shrek & Donkey told me that if I buy Shrek DVD I can get a BONUS Shrek CD.
Is anybody else doing this, like Best Buy or anybody?

It doesn't look like it from what I've seen. I'm not overly interested in the CD, but it DOES look like it could be a "Wal-Mart Exclusive".
If anyone else *is* doing it, they're doing a piss-poor job of advertising it!

Hmmm, I might just have to go to the Mart of Wal for this one. What's on the CD?

It's a stupid CD with the Shrek cast singing two X-Mas songs.
It says that on the commerical.

Phooey! I was going to go there and ask for a price match to Circuit City's lower price, but now I guess they'll be able to claim extra value for theirs. Oh, well - I guess I'll have to wend my way across town to get it now.

Seems as good a place as any to say that there is going to be an official 2nd CD release with the score released on Dec 4th. Better late then never I guess... :)

John, I don't want to hurt your feelings, but I think you may need to go to therapy... especially when your saying two CGI animated characters are talking to you.

:)
Oh well, all I know is that on November 2nd, the Shrek DVD is mine (and since Wal-Mart is open 24 hours, why not go there? :)).

At first I liked the idea of a Friday DVD release. Now I'm starting to rethink that!

I know it's not proper to point out spelling errors, but that can't be right

The Friday release sure messes up preorderers: Either delay your 10/30 releases or delay Shrek to arrive with your 11/6 releases or pay extra shipping charges. I ended up cancelling my Shrek preorder.
I hope other studios don't join in this foolishness. A standardized release day makes life easier for many of us.

So is DreamWorks releasing Shrek on Friday because Monsters Inc. is released to theaters on Friday also?
Trying to keep people away from the theater maybe?

That's what CNN hypothesizes...gee, not many DVD's ever released on a Friday. And Monsters, Inc. also released on Friday. And Dreamworks SKG vs. Disney one of the biggest rivalry in Hollywood.
Doesn't sound like a coincidence to me. Dreamworks is hoping a little strategy plays into their hands.
Katzenberg vs. Eisner. I think this proves competition is only good for the consumer.

Another thing to consider...
At K-Mart, Shrek will be $19.95 and you'll also get a bonus CD, The Story of Shrek. I know no details, but this CD sounds more interesting to me than the Wal-Mart bonus.

I suppose you think that's very funny, Harold.

I was trying to think of the last time a DVD was released on Friday... anybody remember?
As far as I know, it was "Blair Witch Project" in October 1999.

I would pay more money for the Shrek DVD at another store and get no bonus CD than spend my money for it at Walmart!
