I'm wondering if anyone at the HTF has seen this documentary currently playing in theaters, and what your impressions of it are. We might go see it tomorrow.
I saw it several weeks ago. In short, I think the "controversy" around the film has been overstated. It doesn't present charter schools as a magic bullet to our country's education problems, although there is a notable lack of interviews with public school teachers and stats about charter school failures and limitations could stand some embellishment. Anyone walking away from the film thinking charter schools are the all-inclusive answer will have missed the point entirely. But oddly, that is what more than a few of the professional reviews I have read have concluded.
