I have a 3 year old Onkyo DVD player that feeds the video signal to my Toshiba RPTV via component video cables (good quality cables). Occasionally the video signal scrambles, almost stuttering as if there is a memory problem or video reading issue. Any suggestions as to what to look into? Is there anything that I can do to avoid this?

Or is it time to spring for a progressive scan player!

Whenever this happens to me, it's usually caused by dirt/fingerprints on the DVD. The next time it happens, grab the DVD remote and hit the "Previous Chapter" button to re-start that chapter of the movie. Does the 'stutter' in the exact same spot? If so, then it's the disk. If it passes the spot, but scrambles somewhere else, it's likely your DVD player having issues.
