10 years ago I bought new one of the last SONY SL-HF2000 SUPER BETA VCRs; that was a LOT of money for a soon to be obselete piece of technology, but it is very reliable, and as I time shift all prime time shows, it has come in handy. (There's one on eBay right now if someone is dying to have one)

Steve Berger, When do you think, the last great VHS player was made? Does my DH-30K D-VHS player produce a better quality from VHS than the Sony SLV-R1000?
Too me, great VHS playback is extremly importent, because too many great movies are still only on VHS and not on DVD(or LD).

Mattias,

Right you are! That's why I keep my S-VHS/VHS system tuned up and in my HT system. I'd keep LD equipment around too if I had it.
