In 1989, Academy Award® winner and visionary filmmaker Spike Lee mesmerized audiences with one of the most insightful and provocative films of its time, DO THE RIGHT THING. The color grade is different than that of the Criterion BD. A lot less orange. I trust the Criterion is the accurate one, as with HDR grading you can never really know. Too bad.

Do you think the 4K's coloring resembles that of the prior Uni BD?

The prior BD is included so I just looked quickly - that one is way off. The 4K UHD is a lot closer to the Criterion grade, and the HDR adds great depth to the image, but it's still not the same. You'd have to look and see for yourself. It's a great looking disc overall, a lot of depth from the HDR, just better, but I do believe Criterion has the correct grade. Not sure if the DP was involved in this or not.

Ernest Dickerson supervised the Criterion master.

Yes, I meant not sure if he was involved in the HDR grade. He signed off on the 4K master used by Criterion for the 1080p BD. This disc is from that same 4K master, but was he consulted on the grade?

Uni sent out a form to let me request the 4K but I didn't actually receive a copy - dunno if I ever will!

Will check it out if they do, but if not... I'll stick with my Criterion BD! :)
