Why is it now that networks are starting to show movies like "The Godfather" uncut on TNN and "Saving Privite Ryan" uncut on ABC and now coming later this month USA is going to show "Big Daddy" uncut. What I am wondering is why are the networks starting to show there movies uncut now, insted of a few years ago. Now if only all networks could show movies in OAR and explain to the people what it means and all, I will be a very happy camper.

Because just about everyone by now at least has a VCR, and the broadcast/basic channels aren't the only deal in town any more. So, as soon as the "edited for content/running time" disclaimer comes up, people are likely turning the channel, figuring they can just go to Blockbuster and rent it for 99c instead.
