When I joined HTF just over 2 years ago I believe they were about 13 000 members. Soon, the forum will have tripled that number. Thats wonderful but after reading various threads I'm starting to notice a different tone than in the past. Without going into details I personally think more admins could be used to keep an eye on things. The number of admins has not changed much since when I first joined but the member population has. A lot. Wan't it just a few months ago when HTF reached 1 000 000 posts? Look at that number now. Incredible. I remember coming online 2 years ago and reading that a few hundred enthusiasts were checking out the threads like me, now it has to be late at night to see it below 4 digits.

Just a thought to keep HTF #1.

We actually have had far more than a million posts; we deleted several posts/threads when converting to the new software. As for filling our ranks out, we're generally doing okay as is. Sometimes it's frenetic while at others it's reasonably manageable. Remember also that home theater, propelled by DVD, is now a mass-market phenomenon, and our membership rolls are being represented by this demographic change.

Furthermore, we've added more Moderators then you realized over the last couple of years.

Michael:

If you ever run into a post or situation on the forum that you think needs the attention of a moderator just a moderator of that area know about it by using the "Report this post to a moderator" link and we will address it.

Actually, we are losing two Moderators in January
(Dan Brecher & Vince Maskeeper), who have other
activities going on in their lives and we are
bringing back Jay Mitchosky as well as bringing
aboard a yet-to-be-announced new Moderator.

Well that's a shame. From what I've seen, both of these guys have been very friendly and helpful around here.
Good luck with your "other activities," guys. :)

Is the new one Michael TLV?
If so, I think Michael's full name should be used. Just my opinion, nothing personal.

It's fine to have an opinion and nothing personal is taken, but Michael TLV stays as is.

Yes, he's the newest member of HTF's moderator team. He and Jay will be in full force next month.

Well, since it's official...congratulations, Michael.
Though I don't know you very well, your input into my queries over in the Display Devices area has been friendly and helpful.
Hope to meet you someday for that calibration of my set (assuming I ever get a new job, so I can pay you for it :) ).
Cheers! :emoji_thumbsup:

Just curious, how does one become an admin? Not that I'd have the time to be one, but just wondering how the selection works.

Martin,

First off, we rarely consider anyone that asks for
the position.

When the time comes to add more staff members, we
bring the topic up with our current Moderating staff.
The staff brings up names of individuals who have
stood out in this forum as being responsible and
professional. We then put the list of names up for
a private vote. The person selected is then contacted
privately and offered the position.

Rarely indeed. As far as I know it's only ever happened once and that was very exceptional circumstances. Asking for Mod status is a 100% guaranteed way to never become a mod.:)
Hope I'm not speaking out of place.
