Rich, that last post was one of the more insightful posts I've read in the last few weeks... well done!
Luis, point well taken. It isn't so much the fact the soundscore is initially included processed sound, the concern start with reengineering that as it was initially produced begins to muddy it somewhat. Sort of like running 2 channel stereo into 5/6/7.1. Or colorization of a B.W. film.

The same argument can be made against DVDs with the so-called "HT mixes", which many people are fond of pushing as their argument for why Re-Eq is no longer necessary

It's not necessary with those soundtracks[near field mix] that's for sure!
