I watched this a couple of weeks ago on Amazon Prime - Sony's HD master looked pretty good and should make a nice Blu-ray. My favorite scene was the werewolf prowling through the woods carrying a bundle that looked like it came from the dry cleaner.

I trust the HD Master on Amazon Prime looks much cleaner than the old DVD ?
I'm really wanting to upgrade this and retire the old standard disc transfer.

It's HD, but there was some print wear that I recall. I never saw the DVD so I don't have any more info than that. If you have Amazon Prime it's free to view.

Is the big jump cut still there as the credits begin on the HD master? I NEVER expected to see this title on blu ray! All of these labels are knocking it out of the park with classic horror releases!

I did not expect this, and the old DVD is rather dirty and could use a bit of taming in the density department. With Shout Factory and Sony/Columbia doing really top work in the past few years, I have high hopes for Return of the Vampire.

Thanks for the heads up, I added it to my wishlist so I'll check it out this week.

The version Amazon is streaming is identical to the one I DVR'd from TCM many years ago. At the time, TCM was dumbing down HD for some reason.

I wonder if this is the same print that will be on the BD?

I doubt it is the same. I don't think TCM-HD actually aired this in HD despite any listing to the contrary.
