The BIG COMBO (Image vs. Alpha) Need some help from fellow noir-heads (1 Viewer)

Something unspeakable has happened to my Image disc of The Big Combo. :frowning: Needless to say I'll be needing a replacement.

Problem is the Image disc is OOP and is no longer available anywhere. If I have to get gouged on Ebay for a replacement so be it, however I noticed that Alpha has released their own version.

I searched the net for a review of the A/V quality of this to no avail.

Any fellow noir-heads out there seen the Alpha version?

If so, how does it compare to the Image disc?

Our sponser Lasersedge looks like it still has that title in stock. The price looks right since the Image disc had a MSRP of $24.99 and the same front dvd cover. I would give them a call to make sure before ordering it.

In most cases, Alpha usually takes their transfers from Image.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Alpha version. The transfer is a little soft though, but much better than the usual pd-stuff they release.

Since I can still pick it up I'm opting for the Image disc, which is what I'm replacing.

Careful with Alpha Video. Retromedia has a lawsuit against them for coping their prints and using them as their own.

I doubt this gets very far considering Retromedia has used other companies prints as well. Even Image has used other prints for their own. Not to mention every other PD company that uses the same thing over and over.
