I searched speaker setup and nothing usefull came up
thats why I'm posting this question that I'm sure has been asked a billion times.
If you just want to point me to a link thats fine.
Tell me how do you adjust the speaker levels ?
What am I listening for ?
Do I do the testing from the couch ?
I like to play music through the surrounds too.
So how exactly do I adjust them ?

yes you do them from your primary viewing location.

Best calibration is done with an SPL meter.

By ear, you just make sure your distance settings are correct and as best you can try to make all speakers the same volume, using built in test tones from your system.

You adjust them, because your receiver, pre/pro, HTIB, or whatever you use should have individual levels for each channel.
