I have an Onkyo TX-SR705 receiver and a 7.1 config. (living room)

Center = Polk Audio CS10
Front LR = Polk Audio TSi100 (2)
Side surr LR = Polk Audio OWM3 (2)
Back surr LR = Polk Audio TSi100 (2)
Sub = Klipsch Sub-10

Polk Link: http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/bookshelf.php#tsi
Klipsch Link: http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/synergy-sub-10-overview/

Our bedroom is setup with Bose Acoustimass 10 series 3.

When I am playing Call of Duty / Music on the bose system, I can hear more sounds, a person stepping on a stick, hear a person walking up the stairs.
Is it my speakers or receiver that need to be changed in the living room?

I was told that it's better to buy all your speakers and system separate than in a box.

I did the Audyssey setup, but I still can't get the sound that I hear from the Bose system in the bedroom.

Thank you.

Hi Sehana, Something's not right. Your Onkyo/Polk system should really sound better than the BO$E (by better I mean more detailed through the whole spectrum). Take a look at the Audyssey guide linked in my signature. Make sure to follow it closely. Also, you need to be sure your speakers are placed in the best locations. Have a look at this guide from Dolby on proper speaker placement.

I have the same receiver as you (give or take a model year) and have demo'd Polk speakers: you should get great sound out of that setup. You don't give enough detail to guess at just what you're (not) hearing to suggest corrections.

Some starting places:

* Check the speaker wire connections.

* Check connections between e.g video game system and receiver

* Go through the Onkyo's setup, make sure you don't have Night Listening Mode enabled, or the Treble turned all the way down or such.
